We understand that some patients are anxious and fearful when they visit the dentist. To help our patients feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible during their treatment with us, we offer nitrous oxide.
Nitrous oxide is a pleasant smelling gas composed of nitrogen and oxygen, which helps to calm patients during treatment and also allow them to stay awake and in complete control. Nitrous oxide is very safe and can be used with children and adults. It works fast, taking effect within five minutes, and also offers a speedy recovery, only taking five to 10 minutes. Nitrous oxide has few side effects and the dosage can be adjusted to meet your personal needs.
Patients will have a mask that fits comfortably over your nose for the nitrous oxide to be administered. Our masks are latex free and come in different sizes, scents and colors. Patients are also allowed to keep their mask to bring it with them to future appointments, if needed.
Please do not eat anything prior to your appointment if you want nitrous oxide. (No heavy meals two hours before appointment.) You can be assured we will continually monitor you throughout the duration of your use of nitrous oxide including your temperature, blood pressure, skin color, eye dilation, pulse, communication levels and emotional responses.
